Currently,

Dr. Sun is a composer who is a resident of Stanford Baipu Chinese Music Ensemble and North-Cal Youth Orchestra at Ignite Music Society.

During Her Doctoral Studies at UCSC,

Dr. Sun's innovative approach to composition extended beyond conventional boundaries, as she explored the fusion of musical expression with non-musical elements.  Many of her compositions interwove interdisciplinary influences, creating a distinctive body of work that reflects her fascination with the convergence of art and science.  One of her most notable achievements is her dissertation, "The Sonification of Fabrics Inspired by the Fabric Pleats of Issey Miyake," which drew inspiration from the renowned fashion designer's signature pleating techniques.  In this project, Dr. Sun transformed the tactile beauty of fabric into auditory experiences, using pleats as a conceptual framework for musical creation.  This work exemplifies her ability to translate visual and physical phenomena into evocative soundscapes, blurring the lines between disciplines and expanding the possibilities of contemporary music.

Through her innovative compositions, Dr. Sun continues to push the boundaries of traditional music, contributing to the global landscape of interdisciplina.
